Out of curiosity, how many others out there have done what i've done: Well, since i had no idea there was going to be a sale starting today, yesterday i bought the Galaxy X Ship and Borg BO through the C-store, then i find out that they have a sale and i could have saved hundreds of Cryptic points.... anyone else ever do something like that, buy expensive stuff only to find out that it went on sale the next day?

I did not know, but they have been running holiday sales so I am not surprized. Don't paid until Friday so I guess I will get to take advantage of the sale.

i think we all have at some point. i once actually bought another copy of the game as i really wanted the TOS ship only for it to arrive within the store in about a week. that was annoying but at least i got the 30 days free game time with it so i did not end up paying that much more

the only problem is its an unavoidable problem. even if they said it 7 days in advance, you would still get people who bought something 8 or 9 days in advance out of pocket

Not this time, but I had that happen to me in the past. There are a few things that have been added to the store that I thought looked nice, but I decided to wait until a sale to pick them up. This weekend is the time.

I've saved some shopping for things in RL for this weekend in anticipation of some sales as well. Happens all the time.

yup, you buy expensive stuff then the next day its like half off! a friend of mine bought the GBA SP and the very next day is when the price went down...he was ****ed. I bought the extra starship slots yesterday, if only I would have know, i could have saved! specially since I'm jobless! damn.

But with REAL stores, you can take the item or the receipt back the next day and tell them it just went on sale and they refund the difference.

Yeah happens to me too sometimes. Especially when bunkering several foodstuffs this week - just to find out they are on 30% discount next monday. Sucks - but that is life. Works also the other way around: Saw a new game which was for cheap, but since I had not enough money with me. So I wanted to buy too days later - well that was too late: It was only a release day discount so I had to pay the full price.

At least the T5 Excelsior is not part of the sale as to not p-o customers like the OP.

You're happy about that, right OP?

Except if you bought it 2 days before, or 8 days before (a day outside whichever policy)... There is always a cut off. I can't bring in my 3 year old TV receipt because now the TV is substantially cheaper.

My policy is that so long as the item is not limited, you will never be disappointed that you waited.

I wish the discounts was larger honestly. 20$ is not enough for me. I would rather it had been 33 to 50% off instead since I plan to buy almost a $100 in items. Oh well. There is always Black Friday. :D

I could have waited on buying somethings, but now I got them sooner and could enjoy them sooner, so what.

Also I am Dutch and don't know a damn about the US special days and thingies so I wouldn't know when sales would be due and I would not think about checking it before I buy anyway :)

I don't think I have heard this much high-pitched screaming since H&M had their last sale on scarfs and skirts. :p

Know about the sale for about a week now. Sometimes it's good to play both Cryptic games.
Still not sure what I'm going to buy...

    happened to me a lot

just when i got the Borg BO and the Constitution Class imported for a horendous price ( >$100 ) at eBay... one week later everything landed in the C-Store.

i worked my TRIBBLE off to get the RAF Galaxy-X and when i finally got my 5th referal to be billed the Ship was flying arround everywhere because they put it on the C-Store.

But hey at least i got it for free and 4000 C-Points as a thank you.
Just to bad that the new ships are so friggen expensive that i rather sit on my C-Points then to spend them on the Excelsior or the Nebula next Month!

I'm just waiting for them to go on a sale... and it better be a 50% sale again... not those mini 20% sales.

Stop whining. I missed out on a $3000 car rebate last year by 4 days.

Been there done that - many times. I'm always amazed developers dont inform the community a few days in advance of a sale that is coming. To me it is a good promotion channel.

Don't know if they are a part of C-store discussions. The marketing for the C-store is probably handled by a different department.

    I haven't spent a dime on the C-store, and won't.

These guys have clipped me for enough already with the purchase price at full jolt and the monthly fee.

Given Cryptic is a small company and people would tend to where a couple hats I would be hard pressed to think that way. Nonetheless the community manager should be in on the communication loop for stuff like this.

What? Every store I know of the time frame is 30 days.

This sort of thing happens in real life all the time. And unless one is a cheapskate jerkoff, they just roll with it...

The time frame is irrelevant. There will always be (time frame)+1 day, no matter what the policy is. It stinks when it happens, but that's how all businesses are.

This is done as a courtesy at best.

None of the stores I worked at would take merchandise that is on sale now and refund you the difference you pay. I currently work at a store where the return policy is a "30 day satisfaction guaranteed" one. So if there was a refunded difference, it would be because the associate realizes that you can merely return the product and then re-buy it.

And that even depends. Good luck trying to return half a roll of duct tape, or half a gallon of bleach.

So no, it's not that simple.

Sales are sales, and they happen when they happen. Tough shi- er.... cookies if you missed it.

This has been heard loud and clear and Jack and I have been in some discussions this week where we continue to work on the deal that items in the C-Store need to be available for in game currency. (he and I both agree about big functional items being available for some type of in-game exchange)

The Excelsior was a half-step and now we need to put both feet in. I'm hoping the Nebula can be in game as well as in store. The in game way to get it might not be cake - but at least it will be something.

This is exciting news. I personally feel that my time/money invested with my subscription dollars, used to earn in game currency should be just as valuable as the money spent in one shot in C-Store

Another alternative to consider is granting C-Store credits based on veteran rewards granted. (100, 200, 300 day rewards)... Alternative to that, discounts based on veteran rewards attained. The more you play, the less you pay.

That strongly depends on where you are in the world.

Here a Sale is a Sale... Though luck if you bought somthing an hour ago, and they changed the prices just a minute ago, you bought it when you bought it, to the price that was announced that the time.
